It really should be done this way, there’s always good west teams that miss the playoffs and some awful East teams make it yearly.

    i don’t think you’re ever gonna get a majority of owners to approve this. not only would eastern conference teams not want it for obvious reasons, the travel would also hit coastal teams much harder than central/mountain teams.

    Such a revision would require half of the East to vote in favor, with many middling teams voting against their best interests. No one we spoke with expects that to change.

    Per the article, half of Eastern Conference teams would need to sign onto this, which experts don’t think will happen any time soon. Given that additions of Las Vegas +1 other team are obviously on the league’s horizon, I could see this 1-16 seeding and possibly re-allocating a couple teams to different conferences happening with the expansion to 32 teams

      Yeah I think when expansion happens is the time they’ll do it if it ever happens. Outside of that I agree the East teams won’t do it.

    There’s too many playoff spots, it should be fewer and based only on elo ranking instead of number of wins, since one division is good and one has 3 good teams and the rest is garbage
