This app’s developers have been saying some incredibly questionable things about its development and availability, which I would warn people makes it sound A LOT like a honeypot. A WHOLE LOT like a honeypot.

I will now exit stage left and allow you to dismiss me as wacko.

Leave the US, now, if you can. Otherwise, find someone outside to publish your code I guess.

    What a nightmare.

Please stop telling my team to break the line. Look for resources at home first. Please only leave if there is literally no way to stay and help. I understand that’s a thing. I am disabled, but can teach, deploy, and run disposable coms. We also need people running relief potlucks and doing research, and creative communications.

Anyway, what country doesn’t have a far right political party and a drawer of serial offenses on indiginous people and POC? Not Canada. None of Europe. Not Japan or Australia.

I’m refering to the competition between the nazis who want to criminalize and execute all the queer, colourful, and disabled folks, and any functioning stripe of anti-fascists, if that clears things up. It’s between people who want a free license to hatecrime, their apologizers and everyone else.

I can recommend some light reading if you’re still confused about what’s happening.

At no point in this post am I sarcastic about anything, just to be explicit.

Nah, cowards run away. If one has the means to leave, one has the means to fight.

Democracy won the last war against fascism because people with the skills and talent needed to fight them left, both taking those skills away and using them against their origin. If they’d stayed in Germany they’d have either been forced to work for the nazis or been prevented from doing anything. People with skills and talent NEED to leave.

You mean money. It takes money to emigrate. I guess skillled and talented people without money can just die.

          This is a despicable take.

Strawman much? I know better than to engage with such a disingenuous post, but I’m going to anyway.

It’s not about what people DESERVE. Nobody DESERVES to suffer or stay somewhere they don’t want to and I would love for everyone to be able to get where they want. But it’s about the greater good. Everybody who can get out should, but when people who are most useful or potentially damaging to US government leave, it has a big impact. Navalny stayed in Russia. Is anybody better off for it? There is nothing more useful to the US government than for people it needs to stay there. When they leave, it gets weaker, and the forces that want to resist its actions get stronger. Nobody is helped by his staying in the US and having his app shut down and then having him forced into working to support the people he’s trying to fight. Life isn’t a movie. Sometimes the best action to take isn’t the one that’s going to win an academy award, but wins the war.
