It is the case, they are just not generally saying it out loud.
Germany is participating in all EU programs to curb dependence on USA, and are as active as everybody else in EU.
There’s a lot of holding back regarding saying what they mean, because it’s better for this ugly divorce to happen gradually, and prevent it from getting uglier than it has to be, because EU is not ready to cut ties with USA yet.
But Europe is preparing to not having to take shit from USA anymore. And these preparations are made easier by Trump undermining USA’s economy and political influence globally.
AFAIK after WW2 the US economy was almost a third of the global economy, and now it is only about a fifth. The economic dominance of USA is declining, and with it, the political dominance will decline too, and with declining economy, their military will also decline.
We just have to stop propping the US economy up with continued investments in it. And by we I mean all other countries and especially democracies.

They are sure that he is virtuosically incompetent, and just stumbles around breaking everything he gets near, and that’s all they need. They don’t need to direct him, just let him loose, and he’ll do the job without any cost to Russia.

Most of us still want to be your bastards, but we’re being held hostage by treasonous criminals at the moment.

Just the Germans? The only people who have faith in Trump are the dark villains manipulating him. They have faith he will always screw over the populace while giving them more power (or whatever the latest “causes suffering” thing they are into).

I need to read this in detail when I have time. It feels like the majority of this is going to be based on the way the US treated Ukraine and the Tariffs. Both of which were bad. But, I feel like Europe is hating the US for the reasons that are very self interested.

Like, idk, the genocide in Gaza, the rising white supremacy and fascism. Starting WW3 with its aggression towards it’s neighbors.

Am I wrong? Someone from Germany give me some vibes. I feel like Europe is following the same nationalism that will just follow the US in the way it treats its neighbors and it’s citizens.

It feels like that Europe is hating the US actions but their solution is to be MORE like the US in response: nationalism and anti immigration.
