If I want to access a google doc, I have to use a google email address. To use the email, it eventually forces a phone number, then begins putting up more and more strict validation prompts while advertising google authenticator. Meanwhile, you now can access files in a half-assed browser. But what do you know, google drive has a desktop application that is a lot more responsive. So just off of one doc share that could have been emailed, now google has incentivized you to give them access to your email, phone, passwords, and pc, all through sheer enshitification.
