Summary
In a virtual speech at the World Economic Forum, Trump suggested Canada could become a U.S. state to avoid his proposed tariffs on imports.
The remark elicited gasps from the audience.
Trump claimed the U.S. does not need Canadian lumber, energy, or vehicles, vastly overstating the trade deficit between the two nations.
He reiterated his intention to impose tariffs, potentially as high as 25%, on imports from Canada and Mexico starting February 1.
Economists warn such tariffs would raise prices for U.S. consumers.
Federally, Canadians flip flop. I don’t think they understand politics and just vote based on feelings, just like Americans do.*
They get pissed at party 1, and then go for party 2, eventually they get pissed at party 2 and go for party 1.
There’s Trump lovers and fascists all through Canada, too. We might have some people who are educated, but there’s still more that are stupid as hell. Don’t trust us to know what’s right.
*I could be wrong. I could be the stupid one here. I’m basing this entirely on voting patterns for the past 30 or so years.
Currently, Canadians are upset because of the cost of living and housing issues. The Liberal party did not deliver in many ways that they either promised or that people hoped they would.
The logical conclusion would be to vote for a party further left such as the NDP or even the Greens, but instead, they will vote concervative or the dreaded PPC party(which is further right). I would bet money on that for the next election.
