Other platforms will occasionally explode, people will look here, and if they see activity, many will stay. If you look at active user charts for Lemmy, basically every time Reddit explodes, Lemmy picks up permanent users.

It feels good to engage with people and not bots Seeing that little notification glow brings the warm and fuzzies.
