Today’s game is some more Zomboid. We played some more of our save where we’re camped out in the Military Apartment. We even got another Friend on (Who we call Chef). He owned the game but never got to give it much of a try until now, so we decided to rectify that (plus he also helped us board up windows and burn corpses).

When he spawned in though we had to go pick him up from Muldraugh. I hotwired a car and drove it to get him. On our way there and back i nabbed a Duffle bag for him and we robbed a beer store for Beer (For medical supplies obviously, though Jerry may have had a few beers on the way home. No one tell the cops.)

When we got back, i had wanted to get my Aiming skill up for later, so i went out with a gun and just started taking shots at any Zombies i saw. The community center was largely open and filled with Zombies, so i went there to build up my skill. It went pretty well.

On the walk back though it was really fog (which is where the main picture was). I ended up sneaking through the alley’s and back streets to be safe since i couldn’t see an inch in front of my face. I luckily made it back without incident though.

While i was out i was also collecting supplies, which i ended the night unloading the supplies in a room. We’re wanting too open the world up as a server for my friend group to play on (instead of having to have me host), so we’re hoarding supplies until then so we’re prepared since we’re expecting some of our friends too be more than a little offensive with their playstyle. We’re stocking up mainly on weapons and medical supplies to defend ourselves.

I liked the turn-based style of Cataclysm DDA over this real-time one. Because it was less realistic.
I had more time to think and less time to “oh shit, I’m dead.”

But I like the tutorial here because it tells you clearly you’re going to die a lot, in silly yet believable ways.

Every once and a while Cataclysm DDA will show up online and i’ll think “I need to try it”, but never do. I know zomboid references it so i really should pick it up sometime

It was the reverse for me. Went through a few Cataclysm versions (e, f, g), each with their own style, and Zomboid was mentioned by other players from time to time. Someone gave me an earlier GOG version to try and it’s interesting to go through both similarities and differences.

If you do end up playing Cataclysm eventually, maybe try the different graphical tilesets available. Each style can make the game feel better or worse, subjectively. Also, I mostly used the keyboard while playing. Honestly, don’t even remember if you can play with a mouse anyway…
