    I think they might get sued because as a publicly traded company they’re beholden to shareholders (I agree with you)

      Anyone can sue anyone, but it won’t stick in this case because the law would be on the company’s side.

      There is no general duty to maximize profits. The original court cases are far more nuanced than that. Much is up to the discretion of the company, because of course it is.
