Communities supporting America's meat industry have worse air quality and more vulnerable populations compared with similar communities without feedlots, according to new research from the University of Michigan.
I highly doubt there’s any causative relationship between any of these factors. Seems like they’d all be attributable to being less-developed, less wealthy countries.
Edit: probably some causation between animal feeding operations and pollution, but I don’t think it would be the primary cause.

Pollution isn’t just smog. Anywhere near a pig farm will have water pollution like crazy.
