JD Vance has said he is ready to take on the presidency “If God forbid, a terrible tragedy happens” to Donald Trump.
In a wide-ranging interview with USA TODAY, the vice president said he was “confident” President Trump would see out the rest of his term, but added he has had a lot of “on-the-job training”.
He also insisted to White House Correspondent Francesca Chambers Trump was in “incredibly good health”, despite recent questions about the president’s physical wellbeing.
isnt Vance the guy who was asking for help/guidance on poisons?
Lol they gonna kill taco
Pretty sure Vance isn’t planning to kill him until after January 20, 2027.
Peter Thiel has been grooming him for this for a while now.
Trump is dead, or going to be very soon, isn’t he?
What beer should I buy to celebrate?
I wonder what song will start trending when the news breaks out, maybe I should start making a Playlist
Ding dong.
Enjoy the very momentary joy of trumps death when it happens.
If it happens in this term, you’ll find out exactly what Vance is.
The Queen mean girl of the Nazi techright.
A stout. Strong and sweet.
Personally, I’m going with Guinness.
I’d rather have Kilkenny. It is a true Irish beer that is owned by Irish people, and I support the Irish and their support of Palestinians.
Six Schlitzes… or whatever’s free.
The best bet here is probably to watch melania. I doubt shell be able to contain herself. Finally free amd while probably not mega rich after shit all settles. She probably wont have to worry about amything again.
She’s his third wife, the pre-nup is probably ironclad.
That’s for divorce, not death right?
Ok, but what about if Trump dies?
We celebrate?
He can’t wait to fuck those lovely couches in the oval office. Right now Donnie won’t let him.
Guys I’m starting to think something tragic has or is about to happen…
What part would be tragic?
Going from raging pantshitter pedophile to a dedicated P2025 patsy.
I’ll take the patsy with no charisma.
But he’s a patsy who has not been president before meaning it could be another eight fucking years of this bullshit without any fight from the American public
All the alcohol we would be drinking.
God we are praying for a good outcome. /s
It wouldn’t be a tragedy and it wouldn’t be terrible. I am confident it will be a worldwide holiday.
They only need Trump to stay alive long enough to consolidate power. Then it’s phase 2. And it doesn’t really matter what anyone thinks as far as “respect” or “like” them. The long term plan is privatize everything completely moving the seat of power away from government altogether. We’re well underway.
They may think that, but it doesn’t work that way. They need a singular leader to unite the base. Once that’s gone, they’ll fracture fast.
What comes next is probably closer to European liberalism. Better social safety net, but capitalism mostly goes on. The US doesn’t have a groundswell of support to be any more anti-capitalist than that.
Ahhh, but you forget two things.
One, cults usually outlive their founders, even cults of personality.
Two, Unitary Executive Theory. The Trump admin has been working overtime to try and figure out ways to rule by decree, and I think they’re absolutely willing to Hail Mary with Vance. If Trump dies, I can see them trying to quite literally just decree laws and dare the various, rapidly dwindling levers of power to stop them.
I have a hope that the scramble for power will break the machine, but not much.
Maybe. Fractured, sure, but I don’t think the Republicans collectively will be any less harmful without Trump. Congress and the governors will continue with the Project 2025 agenda under President Vance.
Some of y’all never been in a cult, and it shows.
No. What happens is they all tear each others throats out trying to be on top. Nobody wins. The GOP dies with Trump.
Unless all of the rich megadoners die at the same instance, nothing will fundamentally change. We’re in a class war, not a Democrat vs Republican war. Trump may be the man leading the consolidation of power push today, but the reason that movement is working is the environment being ripe for the movement.
Trump dies and the minimum wage doesn’t go up, fox news doesn’t dissolve, and taxes on the rich sure as hell don’t start up. Nothing fundamentally changes, and with the state of all the fundamental and important agencies worsened and delegitimized things probably worsen significantly for those orgs and their services in the short term while power is redistributed, reconsolidated, and resolidified.
Trump dying would likely just be the temporary slow down of the currently inevitable decline. You’re right to say things get more chaotic and there is a large opportunity for things to improve or change - but believing the GOP disappears, and therefore we enter into a utopia, seems to ignore the underlying cause for their existence in the first place. The rich and powerful want to remain rich and powerful, and ideally become more so, at the expense of everyone else so they fund systems that further those goals.
This is the US.
They’ll politely forget and go back to pretending they’re the greatest nation in the world.
Yeah, it’d require him to name a successor that’s competent. A thing that will never happen. Trump has to be the smartest in the room, you think room temperature idiots like that can stop the cataclysm?
Agreed. This isnt a collective conservative front like the Tea Party. This is worship of a singular figure head. Once he’s dead it’ll crumble
That really depends on how deep the rest of them have gotten their claws into the controls
Maybe Trump won the election fair and square but do you think they won’t try to rig for JD Vance? With all the other shit they’re doing grabbing the headlines, what kind of “boring” administrative shit have they fucked with that the press is too busy to even cover?
They will become “The Fractured But Whole”
If you spent half as much time working to better yourself instead of crazy conspiracy theories about Trump, your life will become a lot better.
Something tells me you’re the one struggling with quality of life my friend. The world doesn’t have to be one big fight.
But if you insist. It’s well documented that many of the largest donors to the MAGA movement advocate for absolute privatization and deregulation across the board. They don’t advocate for democracy (representative or otherwise) but rather see it as inherently counter intuitive to economic progress. All you have to do is listen to them speak and read any of their work.
Also, by “better yourself” I imagine you mean “fit as a cog within capitalism”, which friend, you have stepped into the wrong realm for that arguement. I noticed you used “lib” or “liberal” and “blue haired piercing etc” in another of your comments— most of us reject liberals as too far right or centrist and those remarks are just inflammatory nonsense.
I fear you’ve fallen into the deep end when you’re better equipped for the kiddie pool. Good luck.
Impeachment doesn’t sound like a terrible tragedy to me, but it’s unlikely either way.

I can only get so erect. Realizing that this guy would be the Chevy Chase of Presidents and regime change in visual only, I’ll take it.
To be fair he did not say that unprompted. A journalist specifically asked him if he felt ready to take the president’s place should something happen. And it is downright misleading from the article writer’s part to not mention that detail.
Yep, agree. I also think Vance would push him overboard for the throne though
By now every single person who is left in Trump’s entourage are sycophants motivated purely by personal gain. Vance isn’t the only one who would.
