artists on tumblr, giant squid lady had to happen, i’ve been drawing less lately since i started school again, learning german properly finally, it’s such a difficult but also really cool language, i’m enjoying learning even though speaking is still so scary but i’m motivated! being fluent in 3 languages would be so nice, so it’s a goal i’ll keep working towards, i have more pieces planned with these two ladies too, what if we were a scientist and a cleaner/assistant…and we were both girls…
This looks so cool, would love to see a story illustrated with such a style.
What “makes” this illustration style of drawing? The line style? Color palette? It has a euro vs american graphic novel feel to it
To me, it’s the hard edges and the lighting. All of his works have very clear and precise lines combined with subtle, but very effective lighting.
And he’s really good at choosing effective angles. The angle in this image makes the mermaid look very massive and impressive:
And in this work, the angle is just so very slightly tilted, giving it an uneasy feeling. Something is wrong, but you’re not quite sure what it is.
Definitely a really unique style, ionomycin is one of my favorite artists.
