See, I’m someone who can’t stand Jimmy Kimmel. I find him both unfunny and very annoying as a person, and I never thought there would come a day where I would actually defend him vigorously, but here we are.

This is truly inexcusable. This is the most blatant violation of the first amendment possible. This is a clear cut example of the government coercing and colluding with corporations to censor a private citizen on a private show for comments that are perfectly legal. He was only censored because MAGA morons got triggered by a statement that’s not even controversial. Even IF it was controversial, that’s literally the whole point of free speech. It’s to defend offensive, controversial, and unpopular opinions from government persecution.

See, I didn’t care much when Colbert got cancelled because it seemed like it was a business decision, sure, whatever. But this? This is MAGA crossing a line that should never be crossed. We’re starting to enter into actual tyranny territory from this administration. The only MAGA conservatives left are either slimy opportunists or blind loyalists, so I’m not holding my breath on them holding themselves accountable. However, I am hoping that everyone else stands up and takes a stand against this because the consequences of this are very, very serious.

July 2: Paramount and Trump settle bullshit 60 Minutes lawsuit for $16 million

July 14: Colbert criticizes the lawsuit saying it’s a “big fat bribe.”

July 17: CBS announces that Colbert is cancelled

Paramount is in the process of a large merger with Skydance Media, which must be approved by regulators (including those controlled/affected by the federal government)

It wasn’t as blatantly corrupt, but it was still corrupt.

Forgive me, but I’m just trying to wrap my head around how many people have been sleeping and still are.

Tyranny is already here. It’s been here since they started taking people to concentration camps. Like how do people not get that? The line has already been crossed and then some. Tyranny is here and will continue to reign until you and everybody else who is asleep or groggy are willing to wake up and do the hard but correct actions.

I think of “the line” as the event horizon around a black hole. You can recognize it from a distance, but it’s not like there’s a physical barrier you go through when you pass it. That means that if you were actually falling into the hole, you wouldn’t necessarily know when you’ve past the “point of no return.” It’s all just more freefall (and eventual spaghettification) from your point of view. Only those on the outside, looking in, could see that you’re already full and truly screwed.

I think we passed the event horizon long ago. Anyone talking about “going back to normal” (as I’ve seen some politicians say) is depressingly naive. There is no turning back - the only way out is through.

I am amazed and shocked every time the line is crossed.

It is crossing it farther and farther as well, with increasing similarities to other authoritarian lead countries in history.

My shock is not one of ignorance but defying normalcy.

However this stuff has been great for people who didn’t pay attention much before or believe stuff before. This time the administration is barely trying to sugarcoat what they are doing.
