I personally believe cats are born evil and slowly forget how to be evil until they die. When they hurting that’s when they love you the most and that makes it so fucking hard to say goodbye :(

They always love you once the scared and trust portion of your relationship is past.

Generally, people who think cats are evil are people that don’t understand that cats aren’t dogs. Dogs love you unconditionally. Cats are entirely trust-based. Cats are more like humans than dogs are in that they are fearful social creatures that will only open up once trust has been established.

Earning that trust and building that relationship is part of owning and taking care of cats. And a large part of why it is so rewarding for cat lovers. Establishing a hard-earned trust-based relationship with another creature who doesn’t love you unconditionally is… More personal in a way.

They always love you… They just don’t show it much, they’re like kids from that point of view. But when they’re dying they realise they don’t have much time together, and they want to maximise it. They’re like “thank you for everything, you’re the best I love you and I want to stay with you until I’m dead”

My kids often don’t listen, struggle with lying, have no regard for consent of others or personal property, and a host of other issues. Expressing love is not one of them. My kids (still young) show me they love me (and my wife) nearly continuously. The rest they’re learning.
