So I’ve applied/applying to two places that are both unionized shops. My current job is non union, it’s a small store/warehouse and it has four employees and a supervisor and a manager. Three people work desk jobs and that leaves me doing all the receiving and shipping while my supervisor sits at her desk also taking orders.
So I get orders to pick from 5 people while also having to juggle the freight getting onto the shelves and if I ask for help because freight comes in hours late I get complaints, if the orders aren’t all picked by a certain time whether or not it was 2 hours late arriving I get complaints. They can see when the stuff arrives but never offer to help, they expect me to run but I don’t get paid to run.
I will likely give notice to give myself time to get ready for either job but I would never use them as a reference. They spend all their time up front, I will use the driver’s that come into the warehouse as my references since they actually see how hard I work.
