I don’t understand the connection between windows 10 eol and ODD’s.
W11 has new hardware requirements, forcing many to upgrade machines. New machines don’t commonly come with ODDs anymore.
Yeah I mean I guess a surge of orders makes me think people are buying them they didn’t have them already, they’re pretty trivial to transfer to a new computer if you’re upgrading to a new case or whatever and it’s not like the technology has changed in any meaningful way afaik. The few times I’ve needed to rip something myself I just booted up an ancient laptop with a bdd
I remember the good old times when Bowman-II (not a brand, that was my home-built PC) had 12 5.25in drive bays…
I have a Fractal Pop XL because it has two 5.25" drive bays (filled with a BD-XL and a BD/HD-DVD drive respectively). It doesn’t make sense to rob yourself of the choice to use physical media, especially at home were the space they take up doesn’t really matter.
five and a quarter bays are great. You can put anything in them and the space allows for more air flow and you can even put fans in them.
