Honestly, Americans overseas are usually fantastic people. It’s only the ones that do tour group type stuff that get on everyone’s nerves including all the other foreigners. Which, coincidentally, seems to be the cohort the article is speaking about.
If you’re not one of them, don’t worry about it. You’re travelling, not on a school excursion for adults that don’t want to/can’t take care of themselves. Most people love American travellers. Very friendly, inquisitive, and generous people.
