BOSTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Friday granted the Trump administration’s emergency appeal to temporarily block a court order to fully fund SNAP food aid payments amid the government shutdown.

A judge had given the Republican administration until Friday to make the payments through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. But the administration asked the appeals court to suspend any court orders requiring it to spend more money than is available in a contingency fund, and instead allow it to continue with planned partial SNAP payments for the month.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. AP’s earlier story follows below.

BOSTON (AP) — Residents in some U.S. states began to receive their full SNAP food aid Friday as an appeals court left in place, for now, an order requiring President Donald Trump’s administration to fund the monthly benefits amid a U.S. government shutdown.

It’s going to be wild to see 1890’s bombings in the 2020’s. Remember what happened when anarchists used to bomb government officials? I expect the same to happen when parents start losing their children. To starvation.

I’m just making an assessment. Not calling for it or saying it should happen.

It’s even worse than that. They did it not because it’s unconstitutional in any way but because they felt that it was dangerous to cause more debt by using these funds which were specifically set aside for this exact purpose.

      They’re not even pretending anymore.

Funny how debt becomes a thing to care about only when it serves the purpose of taking literal food out of the literal mouths of the poor.

First, if have you try an imagine being the type of person that would vote for someone that would hold food as hostage in an effort to extort the government into agreeing to stop paying for healthcare…

And then I’d have you imagine the type of person that would chose to not voting against it.

    Got it?

Great! Now you’ll never again have to wonder how we got here.

I was baffled reading elsewhere today that Justice Jackson did it, due to her jurisdiction or something. That’s a Biden appointee. I’m sure there’s some procedural bullshit, but still… I am lost.

Edit: yup, it’s in OP’s article too.

Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson issued an order late Friday pausing the requirement

Biden-appointed Supreme Court Justice is the one who took the action. I seriously would love more info from her.

America! Fuck yeah! This is winning! Fuck the poor!

Oh. And Trump is a pedophile and most likely human trafficker. In addition to his other felonies and rape charges. He also sleeps in meetings and has no idea who he pardons. Clearly he is sundowning. But hey, the GOP is here to protect all your diddlers and white collar criminals. They really care.

The Government’s argument, I shit you not, “Congress has not given explicit permission to do this.”

Invade cities with ICE, bomb boats in the body of water formerly know as the Gulf of Mexico, literally start a war with a sovereign nation, tariff the fuck out of everyone… BUT OH NO! Feeding kids, that’s Executive overreach.

Man, I’m not religious, but holy fuck I really do hope there is a hell.

We are officially in the “Let them eat cake” stage of this MAGA government. Enormous ballrooms, foreign jet bribes, bailouts for foreign dictators, and now they’re going to deliberately starve poor people because they think it will make people vote for them.

When we take back this government, this will be the exact reason that there should be at least three seats added to the Supreme Court, and Clarence Thomas should be impeached, prosecuted and imprisoned, along with his treasonous bulldog wife.

They are actively STARVING their own citizens! There will be no punishment too severe for these monsters.

Cake‽ Are you out of your mind? Why should taxpayers’ money be used to fund something as luxurious as cake for people on SNAP benefits?

You are long past “take back the government” at this point. The flaws in the system have been so blatantly exploited that it requires an overhaul to fix. Three more seats on the supreme Court just means a fascist needs two more people in their pocket to do the exact same thing that is happening now.

We’re in end game now. We will not take back the government. 2025 was a feel-good moment but 2026 will be stolen. Civil war 2 AI boogaloo is the only chance for The People to take back our power after that.

Nope, historically, these guys never win for long. Eventually they fall, and it is ALWAYS very bad for them. Ask Hitler, Mussolini, Ceausescu, Gadhafi, and countless other dictators whose last day in office coincided with their deaths
