Nobody knows what’s going to happen, everything is speculation, but one thing we can count on - MAGA is capable of ANYTHING, no matter how heinous and unspeakable.

While your reasoning is sound, I don’t share your sang-froid. We should not assume that there will be elections, unless we are organized, with a plan to make them happen. Trump and MAGA have largely gotten what they want because they’re exploiting a power vacuum. The only times they’ve backed down are when they’ve actually faced opposition. Their disorganization and collective psychopathy make them weak. They overcome that weakness by using momentum, by flooding the zone with shit, and by exploiting the spinelessness of the opposition. We have to deny them that momentum, stop the endless flood of propaganda, and most importantly, organize.

Because of the comment you chose to reply to, I am assuming that you are responding to what I wrote in the linked thread and not this thread; if I am mistaken please correct me.

We should not assume that there will be elections

Agreed! I do NOT assume there will be elections, and started off by saying that if there are no mid-terms what we will have is complete chaos at every level. What I was responding to was the ridiculous imagination of someone thinking – you know what, I still don’t know what he was thinking, lol. But the assumption that any of us know what will happen next is laughable.

Even if the orange kiddie raper carks it or is otherwise removed prior to November, there is still an army behind him desperate to remain in power and advance their own agenda, with an election system that I believe is already compromised. And I do not rely on the weak, useless, controlled political opposition to do it now. As Bernie said last October, Washington is too corrupt, and they can’t fix it. We the people must. I think we all have a part to play if we want to keep democracy, and I know I do.

Every word you said is true. I don’t disagree with any of it. Especially this:

We have to deny them that momentum, stop the endless flood of propaganda, and most importantly, organize.

TRUTH. I keep responding to all the “protests do nothing” folks here because ALL protests do something, most importantly create that sense of community among us that will work together to stop this madness. I wish I knew how to stop the propaganda, though: if it weren’t for propaganda we would not now be facing a political cult hellbent on replacing democracy with fascism.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I regret I wrote in such a way that it somehow reads as less than extreme crisis, because it absolutely is not.
