I mainly use Voyager, WebApp mobile-focused client for Lemmy, which doesn’t have support for bios yet. Hopefully it will soon!

  • I can agree with the community sentiment. Feels like we skimmed off the top layer of nerds from Reddit and they’re all ornery while trying to adapt to their new environment. I say that as one of them, lol.

I get that this is a relatively new frontier, but jeezaloo there are a lot of negative nellies around. “It’s the internet, block/ignore them” yadda yadda, sure, but it just feels like a more sizable amount of people who would close stackoverflow threads as “duplicate” and link to a thread that doesn’t answer the original poster’s question, ya feel me? Like, those kinds of Redditors.

I get that “remember the human” is an old, cringey netiquette, but I wish more folks on here would take that to heart. Hard to sell Lemmy as a viable alternative when folks treat people like they’re beneath them.

  • You’re on Lemmy, so everyone and their mother is going to scream “Why are you using Reddit?!”

Instead, I’ll scream “Why are you using New Reddit?!”

New Reddit, along with generally sucking ass, hates automatically expanding comments. Old Reddit less so.

Hell, I’d wager a chunk of those Userscripts are for old Reddit, too.

Change any www.reddit.com url to old.reddit.com and enjoy the old non-sucky UI, complete with comment threads that aren’t automatically collapsed after one reply.

You can make Reddit automatically change to the old design via a user script, extension, or account setting. I’ll leave that exercise for the reader, though.

Enjoy browsing through support threads easier!

  • I feel like people have gotten Stockholm syndrome from phones with new generations every year.

Current hardware still works fine. If you have frame troubles, lower settings and mess with your battery/performance profiles.

Do not solve the problem by offering to give companies another 500 of your dollars.

(If you’re playing your Deck at home and have a beefy PC, though, you can always stream from your PC to your deck for better performance! On most networks, there’s virtually 0 latency! Highly recommend.)

  • Could always pick up piracy. Hard to beat a 100% off coupon.

Simply pick up uBlock Origin and browse some community-vetted streaming sites on FMHY. (Short for Free Media Heck Yeah, a site that showcases community-vetted sites.)

That’s just streaming, no downloading. Simply find streams of whatever shows you’re invested in and binge as usual!

I’ve even gone as far as taking old laptops of mine and having them full screen these sites on startup. Then, I simply hook the laptop up to my TV via HDMI, plug in a Bluetooth keyboard, and binge away!
