Hurricanes are not getting more frequent or violent because of climate change though. They are likely to become more rare with increasing temperature in the northern hemisphere because of even temperatures in the weather systems.

Lex Friedman ep 339 does a good job explaining the difference between more and severe weather and people settling down in huge numbers in already exposed areas.

We had a huge rainfall in Norway last year submerging a lot of properties. People said this was unprecedented and because of climate change. Only issue is that we have historical data on earlier floods, and people had settled down below the markings of earlier floods more than 100 years ago. Spend a minute on the topic of historical changes in climate and you will see humanity will endure. Change sure, but not gone.

You could have the AR-15 legal as a functioning weapon. But make requirements such as fixed stock and 16" barrel. Such requirements would make the rifle more life a semi automatic hunting rifle instead of a tactical assault weapon.

Here in Norway you can acquire an AR-15 kind of rifle with many modifications. But the requirement is and active membership in dedicated shooting club. There are also requirements for activity in the club. If you want a regular rifle you can take a short course required for all hunters and buy the rifle after applying for a permit to the police.

I think that’s fair as you regulate what kind of weapon people with different interests can have.

The barrel is an essential part for the weapon though.

There’s a great amount of different types of stocks available for modular rifles like an AR-15. Requiring a fixed stock would still allow people to own a gun if they want to. It just makes the gun more annoying to use.

I don’t get it. I go to Instagram a couple of times a day. I start scrolling. The third post is something I haven’t followed or liked. Then the fourth, and the fifth. So I close the app. I spend like 5 minuter there daily. The whole discover page is just filled with trash I have no interest for.
