I noticed this as a kid and my kid brain decided it had to be because my hands get more sunlight than my feet. Fingernails can photosynthesize right?

Cops failled to collect IDs of the attackers. They had them breifly detained but the men refused to provide ID so the cops just what, shrugged and said guess thats checkmate?
In my experience many people are disconnected from the possible down sides of vaping. Many figure it isn’t ciggarettes so it’s harmless, which isnt exactly true. Nictotine is still very addictive, even if it had no health concerns just getting financially tied to the substance is concerning. We should defintely be doing more to educate youth about these risks, do more to keep nicotine out of minor’s hands, and bring large fines or even jail time for people caught selling to underage users.
At least its not idling in the school parking lot anymore where children are closer to the exhausts and less aware of the risks.
Then we put it in gasoline knowing damn well that the poisionous lead would spew out the exhaust, it took us decades to reverse that decison as well and it only really happened when engine knocking had been resolved.
Ive used mine before because the rad was too big to fit internally.
A big problem IMO is the generational responsibility of the waste as well. There needs to be decades of planning, monitoring and maintaince to ensure waste sites are safe and secure, this can be done but modern political climates can make it difficult.
As a tradesman, my boss would fire me in a heartbeat if i took those 3 hours. Instead the customer still gets charged the 6 hours qouted price and I’m expected to go do more work or put in some time around the shop with the extra time.
By your example are you expecting your employer to still only pay you 6 hours of work even if the job ended up taking 8?
I’ve done contracting, dump runs and fit an ice sled with a 2 man pop up hut and gear for overnight on the ice in a nissan micra. The low height actually makes it easier compared to a pick up or most SUVs.
They should be getting far more than 4.5 years for doing borderline slavery and illegally detaining/kidnapping.
You know the system is broken when housing is prioritized and built for the landlords prefences and profits before being built as a functional residence.
I have a friend who is unemployed, collects disability pay, lives with his mom and they both need extensive access to healthcare, medication and mental health services. This guy thinks the conservatives are going to help him and refuses to acknowledge the history of conservatives stripping away social services.
Affordable housing can still be profitable to the land/building owner, It just isn’t as profitable. Under our capitalist system line must go up and profits come before providing enough housing for all.
How the hell does luxury=affordable to build. Affordable housing would be cheaper to build wouldn’t it?
What they meant to say was “we have built luxury housing because it is more profitable”
Flavoured tobacco (and nicotine pens/juice) is more appealing to young people, especially those who aren’t educated on the risks and haven’t developed self control.
How much of that wealth is tied up in ridiculously inflated home values?
That will only work if the teacher accompanies the videos with critical thinking skills including fact checking using multiple sources and asking “who stands to profit from these messages?”
I agree, everyone thinks cars, bikes, buses, and people all should follow the same line along the same corridor. Having bike lanes seperated more can be very benefecial and helps seperation without need for physical barriers. For example a road could run down the center of a commercial area, with a dedicated BRT lane, and bike/ped pnaes closer to the businesses or even a seperate enterance/laneway behind the businesses dedicated to people.
But most of North America thinks a painted bicycle gutter along a busy road, crossing many car intersections and entrances is the best we can build.
I see where you are coming from there. My comment is mostly concerned with north america and our street/road design and layout is awful. There are many school zones where cars could easily exceed 100km/h if the driver wanted to. Because of these deisgns I think it is best we keep cyclists and pedestrains as seperated from cars until better street design and traffic calming can be massively implemented. The scale of the street redesign is massive and would have to be city wide to be truly effective.
An easier and cheaper start to pitch politically would be proper bike lanes along major corridors. A few years down the line streets along those lanes would improve and the city could slowly redevelop.
I wish I could just snap my fingers and have safe streets but stroads and the attitude of driving is so bad in much of north america we are going to have to fix it in stages. We can’t just convert our stroads overnight unfortunately.
