3·4 days agoI’ve never really liked YA-coded media, and SFA is an exception in that I find it enjoyable.
I’m certainly with you on this!

31·4 days agoteen drama
Can you expand what you mean by this? I have heard this criticism before but nobody has been able to provide me an example from the show of what they mean.
Just so we’re on the same page, I haven’t seen a single example of drama that I would consider functionally different in form or quantity than any other Star Trek show. There is drama yes, and there are also teenagers. But in my opinion every “teenager” on SFA is far less “dramatic” than (for example) Wesley or Jake and I cannot recall anyone criticizing TNG or DS9 for being a “teen drama”.

6·4 days agoThis may sound dumb, but wouldn’t it appear to anyone listening between the client and VPN as though all traffic is coming from the VPN and not the website? Isn’t that the point of a VPN?

202·4 days agoYou are. I had zero desire to watch it myself, put it on because I was bored, and now I’m literally counting the days until each new episode. Episode 4 in particular was everything I love about Star Trek.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Curious about the relationship between Red Hat and FedoraEnglish
11·4 days agoThe highly abridged version is that Red Hat pays for and helps with developing Fedora and makes their money from providing support to companies that use it.
If they stopped supporting Fedora (would kind of kill their business model but let’s pretend) anyone could “fork” it and continue working on their own version just like other distros.

1·5 days agoImmutability just means the system files can’t be edited easily. Basically every time you update you’re updating the entire OS all at once. Which is a good way to keep things stable while also modern!
Unless there’s an application not available via Appimage or Flatpak (“app store”), most users will never even come up against the immutability aspect.

4·5 days agoThey own Square which is a card processing service typically used by small vendors. If you’ve ever gone to a festival or concert merch table or farmers market and they accepted credit card, it was probably Square.

It is truly astonishing how a company with their resources could have a program like Teams be so terrible for so long. Matrix/Element have advanced faster than Teams.
