In this case, the program has been built to do these things, I blame the company that built the program for the actions of the program, thats not to say the people and governments using the program aren’t without blame either.

It’s kinda amazing how the news corps love to say it’s the “Insert LLM brand name”'s fault instead of naming and shaming the company that created the program, stole the data it’s trained on, wrote all the ‘safeguards’ and slapped a terms and service on it that somehow absolves them of doing things like convincing mentally unwell people to kill themselves, spreading misinformation, mass surveillance and the the creation of tracking profiles that can discern who you are from way you type, or providing targeting data for genocidal maniacs (or providing a smokescreen for the powers to target whatever they want).

The problem; a school full of kids gets bombed into nonexistence. This exists as a result of a program working as intended; A neural network designed by a militaristic surveillance regime to harvest information and spit out ‘likely’ targets for subjugation, that by design cannot know any part of reality outside of the information it’s given, sits pretty fucking far away from the keyboard.
These AI systems are controlled. They are managed. They are being used as a shield and a scapegoat by the people that developed them and sold them to the militaries of the world as a perfect target acquisition solution, when it has proven time and time again that it can’t even tell the difference between people or do simple tasks without making shit up.
I’ve seen this same attitude of “Well there’s no way that the way I use an AI is bad in any way, must be a you problem.” when talking about a LLM making someone go off the rails or killing themselves and I’m tired of hearing it used as an argument.
Guess Iran really does get to throw the first stone.

Not to mention how every “AI” company is actively participating in the surveillance of not only citizens, but of people in other countries, actively being used by the US military to pick targets for bombing, or how it’s being used to spread misinformation at a rate that would make the cia’s efforts in the 60s sound like that guy you met at the pub who has MANY opinions on geopolitics.
Unironically recommend Gamersupps, despite their whole marketing schtick of ridiculous art on some of the flavours, the actual drinks themselves are undeniably good.
None of the canned energy drink blood thinners and aspatame /acesulfamine sweeteners, none of the sugar since theyve replaced it with sucralose, none of the Lead found in other energy drink powders, they actually pay their artists and outright refuse to use generative images.
