I recently moved somewhere a little further from the shops. I can take the bus part of the way but still need to walk around 1km each way, so I’ve invested in a Clax trolley to carry my groceries.

If I was in your situation, I would buy a light, foldable cart, take the bus to the shops, and walk home.

Ex patriots move to work in a foreign country for a limited period, with the intention of returning to their home country. Typically these are white collar workers who move between their employer’s offices for 2-3 years and then return home.

Immigrants move with the intention of staying in the new country long term.

However, with the negative connotations attached to immigrants, some people - primarily white, highly educated people - incorrectly refer to themselves as expats, even once it’s clear they intend to stay.

Healthy, prepared food. A whole year of not having to think about what to cook, or cooking, or chopping, or cleaning up after preparing food. So awesome.

Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series. The first book I read was “Guards, Guards” and it’s still one of my favourites. I own the series and every few years I read through it again.
