You… already used that line.
Just a smol with big opinions about AFVs and data science. The onlyfans link is a rickroll.

Are there nonabrasive dishwasher detergents?

How… is the article bootlicking? They’re documenting the backlash and how ICE is responding to it, thus supporting the claim in the headline. They’re not saying this is a bad thing for ICE to be dealing with?

I more meant that… like, no, it just doesn’t fit with any definition I’ve seen of a military occupation.
An invasion, attack, terror campaign or etc. are all better fitting descriptions IMHO - a military occupation is a fairly well defined concept and one that just does not fit what is currently happening in Minneapolis. For casual use I can understand why someone would use it, but if I were writing an article about this I wouldn’t want to imply that I personally think this fits the definition if that’s not the case.

“This is a military occupation, and it feels like a military occupation,” Mr. Payne said.
That is the sentiment expressed in the full quote taken from the article. I suspect they didn’t lead with “this is a military occupation” because it’s not actually a military occupation, and I doubt they want to appear like they’re expressing the sentiment that it is, choosing instead to simply emphasize that it shares some aspects with an actual military occupation (which is accurate).

Some types of antidepressants have a very common side effect where they massively reduce (sometimes to the point of completely eliminating) your sex drive. It’s a really shitty tradeoff.
Generally the reason not to put knives in the dishwasher is because the mild abrasives used in some detergents, and more importantly the agitation which bonks them around, can dull the edge (and damage the coating on the racks that prevents your dishwasher from rusting, if you have one that isn’t full plastic) (also not promptly drying the knife will lead to rusting if you have carbon steel instead of cres knives).

… christ, I have no idea if this is legit or not. Maybe… No? Just because he’d have to admit defeat?
I still see that pretty frequently, but I think part of the reduction in frequency is that the community of transcribers has dwindled.
Yeah, no idea why Active is still the default.

I hate to point this out, but it’s 2026.
Everything else is great though.

She’s pretty pro-trump, but to my eye the distinction between if she’s courting trump because she just wants the influence he’ll bring or if she genuinely believes in his insanity it seems like the same result to me - she’s willing to treat with a murdering pedophile wannabe tyrant for power, that’s pretty damning on it’s own.

She’s pretty pro-trump, she probably will give it to him; it seems like an incredibly obvious bribe.

Why is trump doing something I’ve advocated that the US should be doing (removing embassy staff from Israel) suddenly so ominous? Goddamnit I hate this fucker.

familiar with the concepts here, I just I don’t understand how refractive patterns can be formed in this material with the mechanism they’re describing - its easy to etch them in, but it seems like it would lack the definition needed if it’s fluid swelling forming them via the etched patterns. I haven’t had a chance to give the paper a proper read though.

To create dynamic textures in a flexible material, the researchers combined a patterning technique called electron-beam lithography, which is typically used in advanced semiconductor manufacturing, with a polymer film that swells as it absorbs water. By firing a beam of electrons at the film, they were able to adjust how much certain areas of the material would swell, creating detailed patterns that only revealed themselves when the film was wet.
To my reading it sounds like the color change is brought about by introducing raised microstructures on the material? Which… I’m not quire sure I understand how that can work, but that’s fascinating if I’m understanding it correctly. I would have expected the shapes to be too indistinct to be useful in producing that effect.

This was at CES, it’s basically one massive advertisement for trendy bs. Most of the american firms represented were there for AI and wearable tech, since the push for consumer robotics is mostly a dying fad in the US and AI is the hot new thing.

It’s because the predicted ruling on this issue relies on an extremely awful bit of doctrine that will become formally accepted if used in this ruling - and that means it will be very difficult to prevent it being used against progressive policies in the future.
It’s a bit like the judicial version of the patriot act - hypothetically it sure would help us catch terrorists, but maybe we should think it through a little bit more before using this specific legal mechanism to do that.
It’s not “we shouldn’t do this” it’s “we should find a different method of doing this, because this method isn’t going to stop trump and it has a ton of unintended consequences”
Oh, yeah. “American Cheese” (and other processed cheese) does technically have to be made from primarily cheese, which is a concerningly low bar for “cheese based consumable products” to fail to meet.
You refused to read that comment past the first sentence, how do you know they didn’t answer the question honestly or had a meritless argument?
