You emphasize “some” but do we have any data and real numbers?
Genuine curiosity, while recognizing this is hard to measure as a lot of oppression can be internalized.
It’s not an easy discussion (and that’s fine).

The Canada I believe in is a mixture of cultures and beliefs. Saying they should assimilate to our (white) ways conflicts with that.
Edit: to be clear, I’m obviously not for oppression of women, but that’s not what it symbolizes to everyone. At a certain point they’re old enough to make their own choices and if they feel better wearing one I prefer to respect that.
It’s literally a piece of cloth.
Right…
Damn, I was hoping we wouldn’t have your type around here.
Edit: I really should have quoted the other part, I think you softened the wording (slightly). I just hate the attitude of “blend in or stay out”.

What if all my accounts are old and haven’t been updated in a decade? That’s kind of outrageous.
Eh, I think I might be turned off visiting ever again.
There’s definitely more I’ve accumulated over the past couple years but those two come to mind first. There is also a tool that automates the new community federation process here if your admins participate.
Feel free to reach out in the future if there’s anything else I could clear up.
Best place to find communities your instance may not already know about is this site
(remote communities only federate over once a user subscribes)
Make sure to have both English and Undefined selected in your profile settings (next release should fix this)
I’m not even a tankie
🙄
I have no experience with either I’m afraid.
Welcome! Need any help navigating Lemmy and the fediverse?
You’re right. @abigscaryhobo@lemmy.world put it better.
You’ve gotten good links but I just want to emphasize how there is no running karma aggregate on Lemmy and it’s great. I would make a new reddit account a couple times a year or when I hit 10k because then I would then notice it and it made me uneasy.
I still like to see my posts/comments be well received here but I appreciate that each stands on its own merit.
Also factor in that a lot of folks abstained because they know their state is already blue or red, and at least, in the swing state I live in, the turnout was actually very high.
I see your points overall but this one seems meaningless to me. This is the kind of apathy that got you here. Even if they’re guaranteed to win any percentage of voters they lose is ideally one they’ll appeal to next time.
That stings, but not quite as much as century as with that my brain now has to go through the process of determining which century when it never had to before.
Not what you asked, but I find turn of the century most jarring.
This is a problem because some religions are more visible than others. That’s a part that bothers me. A Christian can tuck their cords necklace into their shirt but what can a Muslim do?
