It’s just the time the manufacturer is willing (or forced) to be held liable for certain defects to be caused by manufacturing errors instead of expected wear and material degradation.
Unless something is mission- or safety-critical, replacing it before it breaks is wasteful.
It appears the main driver for the replacements are frequent gas service outages. Presumably they didn’t want to just replace that with an equivalent vulnerability to blackouts.
Also, a battery can add to the power of a standard outlet, so these stoves can have some serious output even without a 240V connection.

Cross-platform, I guess. However, the only platform of commercial interest (and that I know of) that offers Vulkan as the primary, supported API is Android.
