  • Thank you for all this. Will download that json for sure.

I.m.o., instances should never be allowed to ban anyone sitewide, even temporarily(, except for spamming/bot accounts), or only a minority that explicitly states that they want to represent a group of users and reserve themselves the right to say that a user makes them a bad publicity.

Communities should also never be allowed to permaban, and a one-year ban should be the maximum, but only after, e.g., at least 3 one-month bans.

This all sounds good, especially requiring temporary bans before a permaban.

Another really awesome thing with Lemmy that i love, compared to reddit, is their modlog : moderators are forced to display publicly the reason for banning someone, and have to display the censored comment.

That is definitely a huge advantage I didn’t know about, very good to know

If you resort to name-calling back, you’re just as low as the person insulting you, and neither of you belong on Lemmy.

That is incorrect. Maybe I’m too good for Lemmy and they’re too shitty for Lemmy, but that doesn’t make us the same. You are a bad person for pretending there is no appropriate use of insults, and judging others over it - especially since you’re apparently into insulting people yourself.

But what sucks is that I might get banned for how “insulting” this is to say, while your much more insulting reply to prompt my insult says unchallenged.

You are free to insult as many people on the internet as you please. You will not be very popular though, for that is generally frowned upon.

I’m waiting for the internet to have more people mentally healthy enough to not judge someone for appropriate use of insults.

When speaking to strangers online keep in mind basic netiquette, and “read the air” per say.

    Don’t understand this.

I really can’t tell if you’re sincere or not. I apologize for that.

I don’t get how people keep conflating me with right-wing people. It’s like right-wing people are going around imitating me to confuse people or something. It seriously makes no sense. It’s enraging and incomprehensible.

That instance appears to not allow open signups. I don’t want to be associated with a place that says “fill out an application and wait to be approved.”

I can’t get this comment right. It needs to show less emotion because it could bother someone to read it. But it needs more emotion because I’m too tired of all this. I don’t know what to say.

Are you absolutely sure you’re getting banned over that specifically?

That is what you asked and I answered. Yes.

What specifically are you using your freedom of speech to say that’s getting you banned?

In this case, mainly Lemmy’s federation is broken + we need more freedom of speech.

Across all cases, “we need more freedom of speech” is a pretty common example of what specifically I get banned from online discussion for being honest about.

Making me repeat this furthers my view that you are probably not too sheltered to be familiar with this, but just gaslighting me about it
