It ought to stay written down, on the page, in rows of little dots and crotchets all neatly caught between lines. Only there was it pure. It was when people started doing things with it that the rot set in. Much better to sit quietly in a room and read the sheets, with nothing between yourself and the mind of the composer but a scribble of ink. Having it played by sweaty fat men and people with hair in their ears and spit dribbling out of the end of their oboe… well, the idea made him shudder. Although not much, because he never did anything to extremes.

Not aware of any of these, which is nice, but iddqd caught my eye since that’s a Doom reference! Overall I always thought the Doom community was pretty positive (at least going by Doomworld forums, and various Doom streamers, as I remember them). I thought surely it must be some misunderstanding! Oh maybe they didn’t reply quickly enough to take down some drive-by hate speech, but that was it.

Anyway, holy shit, do not go to that lemmy instance. It’s rotten to the core. I’m going to go take a shower and play through Episode 1 to cleanse myself now.

Yeah I didn’t really understand hangovers until I slowed my drinking down to reasonable levels, and then to barely at all. Now it’s not so much a hangover, but I notice I’m not really 100% percent for a couple of days after some drinks.

That’s a great way to put it, thanks. I do see @Mr_Blott’s point, but as long as we we’re in charge of what is and isn’t acceptable in this community, then the slippery slope can only slip so far.

It’s interesting you bring up the controls, because that is one of the things that instantly grabbed me about the game. Before I even knew what was going on, I knew I absolutely loved moving around in the world. I used to spin up the game just to zip about for a half hour.

But of course everyone is different. Not every game is for everyone. I really grew to love Outer Wilds more and more over the days.

I mean personally I’d sub it in for something with some protein, though you definitely don’t need nearly the amount you get from a piece of meat.

Not this particular example, maybe, but the concept of a device remaining usable in failure runs counter to planned obsolescence.

I can’t even imagine what earning double a living wage would have done to my psyche in my twenties. I’m middle aged and just now finding stability - and let me tell you, it wasn’t because I kept working hard. If I’d just kept working hard, I’d still be poor.

I mean that looks legit. I’ve got no nostalgia at play here, having never seen that intro before.

Engineer here - we’re undervalued too. We just happen to have more clout in the workplace at the moment, and so more individual bargaining power. That can change on a dime, though.

Careful, you have to also add --no-preserve-root to make sure you get all of it out. If you leave the roots, it’ll just grow back later!
