It’s basically Minecraft but with a bigger focus on RPG elements, exploration, and combat. It’s a safe bet that if you like MC you’ll enjoy this.

Worked for me just now.
Definitely worth waiting for reviews, but I’m sure they’ll come out soon.
FWIW all mtx will be cosmetics only, with the good news that there’s no restrictions on mods changing how you look. Their EULA also disallows any pay-to-win mtx in servers similar to Minecraft.
The lead dev backtracked on paid mods (at least for now), saying he’s looking into having quick access to donating instead. I wouldn’t say it’s anything near Roblox territory.

Games@sh.itjust.works•Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney argues banning Twitter over its ability to AI-generate pornographic images of minors is just 'gatekeepers' attempting to 'censor all of their political opponents'English
44·4 days agoYeah nobody in this thread went past the title, but that’s literally not what he said.
He actually said that demanding X remove AI features is gatekeeping since competitors get to keep them, which is still a dumb take but very very far from “Tim Sweeny loves child porn”…
So many games have like ~10-15 seconds of unskippable logos whenever you open the game and it pisses me off every single time. I don’t understand why they still do this.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Valve spent 2025 ripping apart Deadlock and putting it back together, and it delivered better live service than most live service gamesEnglish
4·6 days agoEhh, if you haven’t gotten into it this far then I’d suggest waiting until release. Deadlock is still incomplete and has such radical balance changes each update that it’s hard to tell what’s going on. Most of the people playing right now have been playing since early access started, so you’ll have a hard time finding players that are bad at it for now.
Pretty clever and surprisingly difficult, I was stuck on Bruce for the longest time.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Resident Evil 4 Remake Originally Began With a New Introduction Where You Played as AshleyEnglish
6·10 days agoGood call on removing it. Playing as Ashley sounds cool on paper but the missions where you played as her were pretty boring. So much running and waiting for the enemy to slowly walk away for 30 seconds. Resident Evil isn’t known for its stealth missions.
Nor does Valve, since Arc Raiders was in the category.
Valve doesn’t decide anything, the whole Steam awards are voted by the community. It’s a popularity contest.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•PC gaming on Arm chips didn't happen in 2025, but an epic battle with x86 CPUs is comingEnglish
7·19 days agoThe compatibility layer has had significant improvements, most apps work fine now not to mention Valve’s compatibility layer for ARM making games work. The Snapdragon laptops mostly flopped so you often see them on discount for $600 as opposed to the $1200+ they were introduced as. I think they have a good chance to be taken seriously.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•PC gaming on Arm chips didn't happen in 2025, but an epic battle with x86 CPUs is comingEnglish
41·19 days agoMany people want to stay on Windows though. The problem with ARM windows laptops was the garbage marketing, overpriced laptops, and bad compatibility layer. That’s all been more or less fixed, so I think the next-gen ARM chips will be big.
I very very rarely pre-order but if reviews are out and you’re already planning on buying it, it could be worth it. Some stores provide a discount for pre-ordering games, I got Elden Ring for 15% off before it even released which is nice.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is free on Epic Game StoreEnglish
10·24 days agoGreat game if someone hasn’t played it yet. It’s basically just a modern Castlevania Aria of Sorrow by the same lead dev, and it is a bit janky, but there’s a ton of content and a lot to love. I’m looking forward to the sequel.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Epic fails to compete with Steam because “EGS is a shop, Steam is a community”, says Witchfire lead, as Epic has “nothing to do but to buy”English
1251·29 days agoAlright I know people rag on Epic all the time… but it’s truly incredible how hard they keep dropping the ball. It’s been SEVEN YEARS since it was created and it still feels so basic and terrible to use.
The store is drab and uses huge chunks of space just to advertise fortnite and f2p rewards. Discovery is terrible and the store is full of crypto scams and AI spam shovelware, which is ironic because Epic started off being very selective about what’s allowed to be published there. The store also feels like adware because it keeps spamming random notifications and ads unless you turn it off.
The best part is that Epic constantly blames users for not wanting to leave Steam instead of admitting their store sucks. They keep spending tens of millions buying exclusives and giving away games for free rather than spending any time improving the store. Seriously, what are they doing over there?
There’s !nomanssky@lemmy.world but it’s not super active. You’re bound to find some fans in the general gaming communities like this one though.
I’m new to Lemmy BTW.

Not only stupid in general but extremely stupid considering Rockstar already made it clear they don’t like 3rd party mods when they were taking down GTA RP servers.
