Summary

Donald Trump’s second inauguration drew an estimated 24.6 million television viewers, the lowest audience for a presidential inauguration since Barack Obama’s second in 2013.

Viewership declined compared to Joe Biden’s 2021 inauguration (33.8 million) and Trump’s first in 2017 (30.6 million).

Fox News led coverage, averaging 10.3 million viewers during the swearing-in and speech, while other networks saw smaller audiences.

If I hear his droning groggly voice going off about some fake shit, I usually snap and tell whoever to shut that shit off. It’s unbearable. The guy sounds how I imagine anyone would after a 40+ years of Quarter Pounders and Diet Coke, he’s probably way over his fair share in carbon emissions from his diet alone.

I thought I could tolerate reading quotes of him but it’s a mess every time. Whatever schools he attended failed him greatly.

And it’s even worse when he reads from the autocue. It’s like he talks himself to sleep, he loses energy after speaking more than 2 bigly words in a row. That’s probably why he always interjects himself with some dumb catchphrase to wake himself up.

LALALALALA!! I know I have to listen to journalist people summarize the shit he’s done because it’s the reality we need to oppose. But nobody who isn’t paid for it should have to listen to that mosquito whine.

Metrics are skewed. Asmongold’s Twitch re-upload on YouTube reacting to Twitter blips had like half a million views alone.

I watched some bits. Saw a few random senators spouting LLM-generated soundbites that basically meant fuck all but a thinly-veiled attempt to get their plastic faces on the news

Over and over and over and over again. Maximum five words per sentence

Switched it off before the orange chimpanzee even opened that weird sphincter on his face

I saw that shit on Disney plus.
    Immediately cancelled my sub.
Kids can have Bluey from the warships on the ocean 🦜☠️.

I’d like to support content creators. They work hard, deliver their dream. And early on, a large delivery network is desirable! But if that provider enshitifies beyond my threshold, they are dead to me.

    So set sail!

I didn’t know it was on Disney+. That’s interesting. It really shows how the TV landscape is shifting away from broadcast.

Fuck Trump, but I think it sorta makes sense for the new “networks” to carry live events like this as we move to all-digital.

Back in the day, when over the air was the main option, it was good that things like this were put in front of people. I still think things like this should be put in front of people.

    And I’ll reiterate: fuck Trump.

Just wait. There will be mergers and buyouts like you have t seen in your lifetime the next 4 years. Verizon/Comcast/Meta, Disney(abc, Hulu, ESPN, Pixar), Twitter/Fox/tiktok, etc.

My source of alternative facts says it was the biglyest audience in the history of everything.

They even track DVR and VOD. Pretty interesting. For streaming it’s actually the distributor that’s responsible for tagging a program so Nielsen can analyze the ratings.

Thank you for making me curious enough to look that up.
