That’s when his antics couldn’t be hand waved as eccentric or trolling. The rumors that he was a shitty boss weren’t back up yet, he was still pro-LGBT and he had renewed public interest in space travel after the shuttles were retired.
He was always this bad and I’ve been warning people about him for a decade or more. That’s the point - own the fact that you were ignorant rather than pretending this was some sort of change in him.
I agree with lengau too. He’s always been a grifter, claiming other people’s achievements as his own, implementing unsafe practices in his factories, union busting, etc…

It wasn’t very easy to see without paying close attention to him though. And who was paying close attention to him at the time?
