With a federal election looming, reps from Amazon and TC Energy discuss how a new Pierre Poilievre government could slash bureaucracy ‘more quickly’ than Trump.

I’m all for streamlining government services and waste, but I vehemently oppose American MAGAt style cuts to services that Canadians rely on. Fuck that and fuck the cons. Lets hope those Trump sucking ball gaggers don’t win this election.

Dude, these guys don’t want a streamlined government, they want no government. They want no taxes (for them), and just be the government.

Yeah, government is usually inefficient and we can improve a lot but please don’t think or act like these people want an efficient government, that is not true

The government is inefficient by design, the bureaucracy is intentional, people freak out when things go wrong and the government is involved, if it ran like a private corporation things would be worse.

Again, streamlining yes, filthy cons: no.

This topic is pretty touchy for a whole lot of people. And one of the first things to go when shit gets…heated… reading and listening comprehension and uptake.

That said? Even though they assumed you were saying something you weren’t, they have a valid point that needs repeating because for some reason people look at what DGE(fuck the O that’s not how those work) is doing, and how fucked everything is getting down south, and go:
It’s not the idea, it’s the implementation that’s flawed, we can do it properly!
Or they are happy to see our democracy burn for the sake of the Christofascist ethnostate they dream about, knowing that when everyone else is gassed they’ll still be fine because they’re the “right type of person!”

They never do that, they destroy it and then privatize it so it costs even more and it make the right people more money off the public

Are you okay with putting these programs in with zero funding?

We pay interest on all this new debt, every new program is on installments, also called future austerity. If they were progressive they would have taxed the rich to pay for it, but they’re trying to straddle the fence while letting the future take the hit.

Maybe I’m wrong but it seems the sad tragedy is nobody votes for progressives, they vote for people who make them feel good about helping while having no sacrifice.

No. But I’m also not Ok with heavily defunding core services this country needs like healthcare, education, energy and infrastructure so it can be sold off to the highest bidder and privatized even more so than it already has been.

I don’t think the cons offer a single good thing to the general public. I don’t love the Liberals either, but they’re certainly less parasitic than PPs maple MAGAt platform.

Again, I’m ok with cutting waste where it can be cut, but not like the currently gutted system America currently loosing at.

I’m Canadian, and quite frankly American policies and politics can get right fucked. Keep it south of the border.

Conservatives didn’t do the mass immigration that caused our healthcare to crater. Low skilled labor to prop up GDP, in a fashion the UN defined as modern slavery, is hardly what I’d call progressive as well. During an existing housing shortage none the less.

I stand by what I said, Liberals aren’t progressives. Sure vote NDP or anyone else, but don’t gas light and tell me the Liberals are helping the poor after the last 8 years, after their rents doubled. Under Harper wages didn’t rise faster than rents, so the ghoul you hate did a better job; meanwhile the only reason the Liberals even gave an ounce of help to the poor was the NDP forcing them, so we get the full brunt of their cabinet without the lube because people suddenly have amnesia.

Of course you’re allowed to your opinion. It’s the definition of a democratic and free country and I hope you vote if you haven’t already as does everyone else in the country.

I will say though that our healthcare was cratering years before this, but healthcare isn’t Federal, it’s provincial so it’s a very moot point. Blaming Trudeau for Doug Ford buffoonery on healthcare is not fair or right in the case of Ontario. It was the provincial cons that screwed us, but so did the libs and before then the real screw up were still battling to this day was the harris era, which was a con government.

The only thing I don’t want is it to be privatized or the amount of public dollars the provinces get reduced.

In the past I’ve voted for Harper for the first term, the NDP with Layton and even last time O’Toole over Trudeau.

I vote for who I align best with at the time. Had Trump not opened his mouth about Canada, and had I not read about Poilievre meeting with billionaire US medical organizations back in January, most likely my vote would be different.

Smith doesn’t sit well with me either and the fact that she’s a full on MAGAt and wants the cons to win to further her agenda is also bad.

I’ve never claimed the Liberals are good. I don’t think they really are. I think at this point with the orange Mussolini south of us, Carney has more options than Polievre to get us out of the mess, but who knows what happens once the next government is elected.

But don’t misconstrue my statement either. Were things different, neither one of the main parties would get my vote as I think they’re all vultures.

The liberals work for the big corps. The con work for the big corps. At the end of the day no matter which party wins, most of us loose.

I don’t think either platform is that mis aligned from each other.

For me, I think the saving grace is that neither party will have a majority so they can’t destroy the country as easily as if they had a runaway majority.

Its definitely harder to get healthcare staff to work in a city where a house is literally millions of dollars, they’ll go to the US if they have a brain. I agree Ford didn’t do anything to help, but I’d also say if every province has a doctor shortage then maybe its not a local issue.

The Feds also lead to stagnant GDP growth, by blocking our exports with bad laws. As they simultaneously borrowed a ton and ballooned the size of government, starving resources from productive investment; which being cynical its hard to pay higher taxes when you’re wage isnt growing and you’re funding Tim Horton’s workers to bring their senior parents onto our healthcare.

Feds could do more, sure, but it’s still a provincial problem.

You deal with the province to:

                Carry over your medical cert.

Immigrate. yeah, it’s a weird one! If you’re skilled, you deal with the province, first

                Set up a practice.

                Bring in other talent.

                Buying a house.

                Etc, etc.

Healthcare is much more a provincial product then federal, but that’s not to say the federal government is helping as much as it can with things.
