Most of what is in the picture has grown over the last three years. And it’s mostly on top of large rocks, the border of their bed.
Oooh, decorative, or do you plan on eating some?
Mostly decorative, but we have a tortoise that really likes them. I’ve had them before, but not ours yet. Was thinking about grilling some up this summer.
What do they taste like? I live in a wet region where they cannot really grow.
Not really sure how to describe. The berries are kinda like a strawberry watermelon flavor. And the pads are, I don’t know, they are kind of their own thing. Maybe green bean like, but thicker.
Sounds tasty! I’ll have to try them at some point :)
Gotta deadhead those flowers when they crop up, though they are pretty.
Dead heading is to remove spent blooms so the plant doesn’t waste energy making seeds and will continue to bloom.
It’s in the name itself.
But the fruit is delicious! Just be sure to be careful of the sharp little hairs (glochids), they’re no fun to get out of your skin.
What for?
Our tortoise dose like to eat them.
