The policy update doesn't use the word "transgender," but it says it will comply with President Donald Trump's executive order on the matter.

I don’t know why people always bring this point up, like it wouldn’t

      1. cause a ton of dysphoria to trans men

      &

      1. Cause an even bigger backlash by both the government and governing authorities

Maybe because it’s not a serious suggestion, and humor is a coping mechanism for dire times

So does anyone know what this means in practice? In many sports it used to be based on testosterone levels which means trans women can compete. If it’s now based on gender assigned at birth that’s a bit BS as men with highly elevated testosterone levels that have been assigned gender woman at birth (for whatever medical reasons) can then compete in women’s sport. While I think that any rule is unfair as sports inherently is unfair this seems to be completely unreasonable.

Executive orders don’t apply to anything beyond the executive. These spineless organizations just preemptively deferring to the whims of a tyrant don’t deserve to represent the United States.

I’ll assume you’re debating in good faith here.

Generally my problem is that most of the time when people push this it’s usually just a way to be like “I don’t want trans people to exist”

It would be one thing if you had an epidemic of men going trans to compete in sports, but generally this does not happen often and most of the time it doesn’t have noticeable effects on outcome. It’s an issue that affects so few but gets such heavy attention because right wingers gain a lot more traction with this than just saying “I hate trans people”.

This John Oliver video goes into it a lot better than I can about it and gives actual statistics that I don’t have off hand. https://youtu.be/flSS1tjoxf0
