So was Trump’s promise to release the Epstein files what made people think he was some kind of underdog? Aside from being a bit of a political outsider, I never really understood why people thought he was some scrappy little guy. At least W had a bit of a common touch and is someone you’d want to have a beer with despite his alcoholism and being a coke head.
The #1 thing Trump taught me is, if you talk with the shabbiest-false machismo and bravado, and you throw a certain amount of common-sense-racism-and-chauvinism in, people will just fully disengage their frontal lobes and register whatever you say as gospel. Especially people who claim to love gospel. Should Liberals be taking notes on this? Yes. Are they?
No. They’re hoping populism just goes away.
They might win the midterms and keep hoping populism will suddenly vanish. They’re wrong.
