Joe Rogan was never an important voice for anything. He’s a categorical dipshit. He has the moral compass of a windsock. He is impressed by any statement that’s even mildly astute, and latches onto ideas that are presented as such by whatever person he’s interviewing. The fact that so many people in the states are so into what he says is frankly a pretty damning indictment of my countrymen in general.

And yet he’s consistently had the largest podcast audience in the world for about a decade with tens of millions of loyal followers. “Important” doesn’t imply “good,” or “smart,” or “correct.” A tumor is important. Yes, he’s a moron and all the other things you said, but he’s also a massively important voice for whatever happens to rattle between his ears.

Yeah that’s what I kind of think. But I hate the realization that I’m just as susceptible to it as everyone else if it’s with someone I like.

It’s a very important realization to have though. Now incorporate this vital information and make peace with your fallibility. Everyone is susceptible cognitive biases and it pays to know yours. Stay vigilant.

Yeah I know. But I fell for the belief that he was one of the good honest ones that was incorruptible for the longest time. Idk, he also could just be stupid.

There was a time before Andy Dick went off the deep end?

Dude gave drugs to his costar’s unstable wife, which led up to that costar’s death. And then told another costar “you’re next.” That kind of behavior doesn’t appear out of nowhere.

Literally just started a rewatch of NewsRadio like two days ago. Immediately struggled with my love for Phil Hartman and Dave Foley versus my hate for Andy Dick and Joe Rogan.

I seem to recall that Andy Dick was a dick then, too. We just didn’t know about it yet.

But at least Andy Dick did it in a hilariously bad not ruin the world just his own reputation and the times of everyone around him kind of way. Also I loved news radio when I was a kid.
