A former leader in the FBI said Wednesday night the agency was "back to square one" after authorities released a "subject" who had been taken into custody in connection with the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Kirk, 31, was the CEO and co-founder of Turning Point USA, a conservative s...
I think the shooter was good, but not a professional. They knew enough to sight in their scope accurately, but not enough to account for bullet drop. Nobody aims for the neck. Odds are he was aiming for the head. If you zero in your sight for 100 yards, the bullet can drop 3 or 4 inches once it gets to 200. And he seems to have disappeared without a trace, so he planned it well. I assume he cleaned up after himself. Odds are they’ll never find him.
Him? You mean they/them, right? Cause it was obviously a far-left transgender liberal progressive with blue hair. The whole GOP said so on Twitter. Surely they can’t be using this death to trigger more violence, can they?
Looks like a white male to me. Likely on the right side of the aisle judging by the attire. I think that whole thing about the bullets / guns having messages on them is grade a horse shit.
That’s some dude they found that looks kinda suspicious which is currently their best guess for who the shooter might be, not the confirmed THIS GUY IS THE SHOOTER guy
Yeah, a lot of people have been going on about “he must have had sniper training” and I’m like no man, 200 yards is a pretty normal shot for a hunter. Heck I’ve shot deer at 150 with iron sights.
I’m inclined to agree with you on the whole probably just a guy who went to the range that fell down a rabbit hole.
I saw someone saying he must have been a professional because he “hit a spot smaller than a quarter from 200 yards”… Like, my dude, you are assuming the goal was to hit that exact spot? Every bullet “hits a spot smaller than a quarter” from every range. I agree this wasn’t likely to be the first time this person held or shot a rifle, but he also doesn’t need to be Jason Bourne…
big difference from making that shot on a target field, and knowing you are going to kill someone, and have to get away with it. No amateur would have taken one single shot, see the Trump shooting.
It’s a bolt action, at a pretty typical hunting range (142 yds is the estimate).
Its not all that outrageous of a shot. A good shot, and a skilled one. But not at all unusually skilled.
It was a bolt action rifle, not an AR like was used in the Trump shooting, you aren’t going to fire 3 rounds before you know what the first one did. And you are assuming an average person in a mental state that both understands and cares about the sanctity of life.
and, why not? Oswald famously managed to fire three deadly accurate (magical, even) bullets from his Carcano 38 within mere 7 seconds.
Oswald was a marine.
His target was moving and he had a very limited line of site, and still managed to hit 2 out of 3 shots.
That kinda shit is what professional shooters can do.
This was 1 shot at a fairly standard range on a target literally sitting in a chair on a well lit stage. You don’t need to be a professional to make that shot. I’ve had friends on their first day shooting make shots like that with a decent rifle, some coaching, and about 10 rounds of practice at shorter ranges.
Even picked up the shell casing. And not bystanders casualities. Not a pro, but certainly not an amateur.
Where was this guy when Tronald Dump had his speech…
It was a bolt action rifle, was it not?
Well, it could’ve been, but it is really not that important. Worst case it takes aways from his professionality.
Pretty sure it was and I’m not sure how you can say that it’s unimportant when the point I was making was that he didn’t need to pick up his shell casing, as you suggested.
Bolt action ejects the casing as well, given you perform the bolt action. Not sure how confident they were the first shot will be enough, and time is everything so I assumed they performed the bolt action to prepare to finish the job if anything didn’t go according to plan.
He was wearing this which implies he’s a disabled vet.
Or was one of the few people who have that custom shirt. Whoops.
He should have played more video games to learn about bullet drop.
The shooter could have been aiming center mass, and aimed a bit high? Good thing, too, as Kirk was wearing body armor!
I do agree, not a pro. Just a decent shot with a typical hunting rifle.
Was he? It sure looked like his t shirt draped normally.
I assume they couldn’t see his head because being under the tent and shooting from a upward position so they shot what they could see
