There is no future where advertisements like this will ever be welcome in people’s homes

I really, really, really want to believe that line. But I don’t. I can see too many ways they will convince the average schmuck that it’s the new normal and you’re some kind of Luddite weirdo if you don’t have one.

And the main reason I don’t believe it: manufacturers stopped caring what consumers want years ago. They push out what they want us to have.

I will forever laugh at people with smart fridges. Like how I already laugh at people with smart beds, smart locks on their front door and not to mention standard smart phones.

Seems like the more smart stuff one has, the stupider one is.

I’ve got a colleague at work that pays for everything with cash because ‘it’s nobody’s business but my own what I spend my money on’, but has his whole house hooked up with internet connected cameras, and voice commanded everything.

Most places also want you to have accounts or memberships. So if he scanned a membership and still paid in cash, im sure it’s still tracked.

If this world wasn’t what it is today, I would absolutely be like that’s cool! But the world of ads, and spying on you and your every move that you let them get away with? Nah, sorry, im good, thanks. Just remember, if you have to put these devices on your network, be sure to isolate them and not allow them to phone home.
