The U.S. Senate passed legislation Wednesday that would nullify U.S. tariffs on Canada, less than a week after Donald Trump said all trade talk with its northern neighbour are terminated.
US is currently in shutdown. On Nov 1st, there will be tangible reactions to specific health insurance premium increases that should have many people with up $1000/month, and some $2000/month quotes. There is a possibility of a reopening deal that would include the tariff overturn vote. Trump may come up with a brand new national emergency declaration to reimpose tariffs.
Supreme court is also reviewing these tariffs soon, and Constitutional Congressional oversight power, backed up by this vote against them, could influence their decision.
