r/Art has quietly gone into lockdown and is no longer accepting submissions after mods began facing severe blowback for banning @haydclay for mentioning the word “print” on the subreddit.
I don’t think Lemmy is any better. The other day, a Lemmy moderator didn’t like a video I shared about the potential collapse of the US and banned me from eight communities. As far as I know, the video wasn’t even AI-generated, so I don’t know where he got that idea from.

I made a comment on one sub that broke a vague rule that they deemed inappropriate… (something to the effect of making your comments tactful)
When asking about their decision and defending my comment they banned me from all the subreddits they modded.
I was a user for 14 years… Haven’t been back to Reddit since. ✌🏼
OP is hawking AI art “prints” on an art subreddit.
It’s weird but I’m with the reddit mod on this one, lmao.

Where did you get that from? I got that story from twitter and it doesn’t say anything about AI anywhere.
Incredibly rare reddit mod W
Where does it say any of that?
It doesn’t but a quick glance at their reddit post history shows a bunch of terrible AI slop.
ahhh the truth comes out… ‘why can’t I spam my ai-shitstream to your sub? ugh, power trippin bastards!’
But that’s not what OP did at all? The truth didn’t come out, Chloroken hair made something up.
Some people would derive real psychiatric benefit from just one haymaker straight to the goddamn mouth
I loved pissing off the actual public freak out mods. I never broke the rules just went against their personal politics

Pretty much convinces me that rules are just weapons for those in power to exert on their subordinates or subreddit users.
My last message to them was that they are a part of cancel culture and should pro free speech, and undo my ban and issue an apology for power tripping.
I’m fine with them being the king of their domain and kicking me out, but it’s fun to tear into them for being irrational and losing their shit over me defending victims or whatever.
Yeah I just lurk at Reddit and do my engaging here. Too many power addicted mods, and a worsening foreign influence problem.
Not that we’re immune here, but it’s been a LOT more enjoyable to engage here than Reddit.
Reddit really hates it when you discuss how much drugs Elon takes

a worsening foreign influence problem.
considering one of the “most reddit addicted cities” in 2013 was eglin air force base, home to multiple cyber warfare groups, reddit has a yankee influence problem
I do the opposite. Since I mostly engage with niche communities, I mostly engage on Reddit.
Reddit mods are power hungry assholes. This one specifically too. But you also broke the rules of the sub. When I was a mod of a small sub having to handle all sorts of people giving me attitude, I wasn’t paid enough for it.
You weren’t like “oh sorry, I didn’t understand replying to questions with info about my work broke rule 9”. You were more like “how dare you”.
Moderation is slapping people in the face, for a good reason. You’re still slapping them in the face.
Some people need a slap in the face. When I was mod sometimes I couldn’t handle all the crap. But if someone messaged me nicely and seemed understanding, I always replied in kind.
It’s someone from twitter called Hayden Clay @haydclay
I don’t think Lemmy is any better. Copying Reddit moderation system was a stupid decision.
The other day some lemmy admin didn’t like a video I shared and banned me from eight communities.

Oh, you are selling AI art.
You are the second who said that. Where do you get that from? It’s a twitter thread without any mention of AI, have you at least bothered to look into it before making accusations?
The ban comments say LLM slop and spam.
a lot of slop, no wonder they were banned from .ml
Looks like we just held a 35 to 0 vote to keep him banned, so in the end it was pretty damn democratic
That might be an instance ban from ML.
Give another instance a try
Don’t know what your post entailed but .ml instance is very heavily moderated and very easy to get banned like that
does it automatically ban you from every community they oversee? i see ban spam like this sometimes and i can’t imagine they’re doing it manually.
It’s not a Reddit problem, it’s a human one. Like you also commented it happens here too.
If men were angels no government would be necessary
YDI.
Typical reddit moderator being a power hungry bastard.
I got permabanned from !lemmyshitpost@lemmy.world for asking about the rules in the sticky thread for questions about the rules. Reddit power-tripping mods suck, but we should also be wary about tolerating the same sort of mentality here.
I just looked out of curiosity and I get it, tbh, though you should probably have been given more notice before a temp ban, not a permaban off the bat. You seem to me like you don’t want to follow the rule regarding religion. I’m not trying to start shit, but it’s not a very pleasant set of interactions that follow, and that’s probably not what the mods are looking for.
Being upset about a rule and refusing to follow it are entirely different things, whether the mod understands that or not.
The motherfucker banned me preemptively for something he thought I might do. Not only were there not escalating consequences for multiple offenses (as any reasonable moderation standards would have), there wasn’t even a first offense!
Well the mods quit so… lol
r/art is the worst lol
They banned one dude and then a bunch of us for saying
Classic Reddit moment
It’s just a terrible subreddit to begin with. The artwork is all shit and uninspiring stuff you would see from a teenager. I’ll be the first to admit i have no artistic ability, but all the posts were just the portfolio of high schoolers
I wonder why that could be… Surely the rules & mods being obnoxious has nothing to do with it.
I don’t know, surely GOP supporter is more embarrassing ??
that’s just a reddit mod in a different font
