I don’t know what that is but Gwar also covered West End Girls for some charity.

    /looks at video

Pretty sure it’s the same charity.

What happened to the girl who was singing with Gwar?

IMO Gwar suck (though I do like one of their songs, “Sick of You” from the 90s), but I also kinda love them because they’re just a bunch of theatre nerds from Richmond VA and apparently they do a lot of stuff for the local music scene. I would go to one of their shows. But, I still think they suck, I just bet they put on an entertaining show regardless. And sometimes that’s all you really need! Like people who would go to see Rammstein (who don’t suck), Babymetal (jury’s out), or Marilyn Manson (though not after all the shit about him came out), you may not like the music, but you will be entertained.

You go to a Gwar show for the spectacle and banter more than the music. I never listen to them on their own, but I never miss them at a festival. Do yourself a favor, catch a show, wear a shirt you don’t give a shit about and get in the pit. Gallons of blood and alien cum

As an amateur food scientist, I’m curious about the monster/alien cum. I’m thinking it’s marshmallow based or mayonnaise based, but I’m just guessing. I’d probably use mayonnaise based, cheaper for quantity, but it would stink, especially in the heat, and you don’t want that. Then again, the marshmallow based stuff would draw flies, especially in the heat. I’m gonna bet it’s food safe since they’re spraying it on the crowd. Yes, I absolutely would taste it.

I’m also aware that they feed fans to a beast, which really just takes you backstage.

Read/heard some things but never got to go to a show. I’ve never heard of them playing near me, but if they did, I’d try to go. For sure.

Mayonnaise based?!! That’s truly evil!! It’s effectively just kool aid. They’re monster aliens, so cum can be any color of the rainbow. I’m not sure if it’s flavored or just food coloring. You should investigate and report back.

Yeah, it was early, I didn’t really think… but if it’s alien/monster cum, it can’t just be Kool-Aid, it’s gotta have some viscosity (thickness) to it. Or maybe not, it could just be coloured and flavoured water.

Getting deeper into food science than I normally get, I’d imagine they’d use some kind of thickener to give it substance, but you really wouldn’t want it to be oil based because it would be a bitch to clean. You’d have to have a change of clothes in your car or you’d mess up your upholstery.

Yeah I’ve met them on more than a few occasions. I never got into them back when I was younger, so the musics just kind of meh to me now. No nostalgia for it, not my daily jam otw to work even if I might like metal kind of thing. They’re all phenomenal people like you said though, super community oriented, chill, good hearted people. Richmond would be a worse place without them around. I’ll definitely catch their local shows whenever they play though, it’s just a spectacle.

You didn’t ask me, but I’d like to answer.

I’ve unironically loved ICP for 20+ years

I was listening to a user run web radio station. I can’t remember exactly, I think it was a channel on IRC. I know I was listening to it on winamp. I heard “My Axe” and fell in love. I understood immediately they didn’t take themselves seriously and were playing a bit

I do not like the blind hate they get. A lot of the music is objectively not good but that wasn’t the point. They had a message that clicked with me. I liked how they spoke out against bigotry and the “richies”; they speak about pastors taking their parishioners money to live the good life. And they hate cops

The biggest message though was inclusion. I think icp resounded with people who had no one else. I’ve wanted to go to a Gathering for a long time because for a long time those were my people

tldr; I’d go to a gwar show

Tough choice. I’d definitely see both of them. I like more songs by ICP, but the whole backyard wrestler/clown thing doesn’t speak to me. I like sci-fi/fantasy, so I’d be leaning more toward Gwar. Plus, I don’t wanna get Faygo on me.

The masked band I’d pick over either of them, though, is MAN WITH A MISSION (stylised in all caps). They’re a Japanese rock band, they always wear wolf masks, their back story is that they were made by Jimi Hendrix, frozen in Antarctica, and discovered by a Japanese fishing boat and brought back to Japan. And their music is actually really good. They have licensed some music for anime.

This is what they sound like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2T2BJwkjL8 (band shown on-screen at 2:07) (Song is in Japanese with some English lyrics.) (Side note about this video, guy is wearing a New York baseball cap, and he’s walking through Shibuya in Tokyo, which is like Japan’s equivalent of Times Square in New York. You probably recognise the area, it’s one of the most popular locations in Tokyo.)

What happened to the girl who was singing with Gwar?

Bit of googling says they’ve had two female vocalists, the most recent one was only around for 2014 before parting ways to do her own thing.

Huh. Maybe that other video is older than I thought.

Thanks for looking it up — I wasn’t really expecting anyone to go looking, was hoping more to get an answer from a fan who knew, because I didn’t care enough to look it up myself. But, you did, and I thank you for that, information is good, your time wasn’t wasted.
