I stopped watching Star Trek after the finale of Discovery. I’ve been a fan for decades, but… oh my god.
I don’t care how flamboyantly gay those Klingons are. I want good writing.
After watching like all the new stuff: DIS was shit but the worst thing about it was really that it was the first thing after the pause. If the first would have been SNW (best case) and then DIS came out: people who dont like it would have just stopped watching it and hoped for the next banger(?) instead of quitting nutrek
At the same time, it was also good enough that it made Paramount want to pop out more shows.
SNW couldn’t exist without DSC giving us a taste of Anson Mount as Captain Pike, for example.
If people had left it, chances are, they’d have left it buried for a few more years.

Honestly, I don’t think it was that, as much as its production was just a mess. Showrunners and writers were consistently fired partway into the season for at least the first two, and it shows, because the plot would just suddenly fly off in another direction mid-season, which doesn’t exactly work well for a serialised show.
Past that, it basically turned into an experimental testbed for show ideas, and never really seemed to find its own identity before it ended (though it came close in its last season).
Discovery was utter dog shit for sure.
Strange new worlds is decent though, a few misses but worth watching.
Lower decks is fantastic, a real love letter to fans.
Academy I expected to be just as shit as discovery but was pleasantly surprised. It’s definitely the weakest of the above with quite a variety in quality, but has its moments. I don’t hate it (so far).

In response to how joyful it was to read what Brad and George had to say, I wore this to work.

“I genuinely cannot believe that a gay character on a TV show in 2026 can cause this much commotion. Y’all, like, I thought… I don’t know what I thought. Like, y’all gotta understand, I live in New York City, right? So you could be purple, in Brooklyn, and nobody cares. Nobody gives a ****. You know what I mean? So, like, when I come to the internet, and I see, like, all of these feathers being ruffled… it’s jarring, but, nevertheless, I guess it signals that there’s more work to do, so, yeah, uh, anyways, let’s talk about Kyle kissing Jay-Den in episode seven, y’all.”
😂 Gene protect this man
I’ve always seen star trek as my inspiration on how life can and will be better. I really love the show in any iteration. And to all the haters, bye. Get a life, preferably not one that focuses on how others live. As a 40 year old gay man, I just think about myself, when I was deeply in the closest at a young age, seeing representation like that on TV. It would have been so awesome. Representation like that, can be very uplifting. I’m here for it!

A Klingon throuple is going to have more black eyes than a bag of peas.
When there is no woman, who throws the furniture?
We’re gonna need way more popcorn…!
Moclans: “Am I a joke to you?”
The crossover that needs to happen! I don’t care if it’s an alternate universe one-off, because it’s bound to be fun AF (although I’ll gladly take more)!
The logics are (hopefully) similar enough that they could sell it as a “funny mirror universe” crossover
I think its cool/funny/interesting that booth have been interacting with the fediverse.
