Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was one of the first world leaders to back the ongoing U.S.-Israeli war against Iran, which started on Feb. 28.
For Ukraine, the choice was logical: Iran is a Kremlin ally that has backed Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and supplied drones to Moscow.
Moreover, Zelensky is seeking to curry favor with U.S. President Donald Trump and show that Ukraine is a reliable ally, analysts say.

But it is unclear whether this strategy will work.
Trump’s hostility towards Russian allies like Iran and Venezuela has not yet affected his relationship with the Kremlin. Moreover, Trump has been reluctant to antagonize Moscow and take a more pro-Ukrainian stance in peace talks.
Less Iranian shahed drones go to Russia.
Unfortunately it’s probably going to result in curtailed weapons shipments and support - from the US, at least. But our current regime has been cutting back on that since they came to power, so my gut feeling is that it’s not going to be a catastrophic thing. Maybe they can reverse engineer some patriots or HIMARS munitions before things are fully turned off.
Sigh.
Ironically Zelensky also supports Putin’s arguments for war and the war. 🤷♂️
Iran are supplying Russia with drones that are used to attack Ukraine. It’s not hard to see why he’s supportive.
Putin started the war on similar grounds that US/Israel have. Is it hard to see the irony? We are fine with whatever war or genocide as long as it benefits us?
The other consequence of the war Zelensky is backing is the oil and gas prices going up, by a lot. Also less production in middle east. Shall we guess who profits? Did I mention that a lot of air defense and other resources are being used there instead in the Ukraine? This war is so much win for Ukraine, no more Shaheds there because Russians don’t know how to build ones, right? Etc etc the lists goes on.
