I’ve seen some talented people suddenly looking for work on LinkedIn - anyone know how bad the damage was?
- Whats AKQA? - It said 11 people are losing their jobs. Why is that newsworthy? - According to Wikipedia, AKQA is a design and innovation agency that helps corporations improve their branding and experiences. - According to Google, AKQA is an abbreviation that means Always Keep Quinoa Accessible?
- I mean if you don’t know, and you don’t care, then this post isn’t for you. - That’s okay, isn’t it? - If I’m asking then I want to know. That’s okay, isn’t it? - Also this is a general Ask Lemmy (as in all of lemmy, not just the AQKPTRW community) and so there’s a reasonable assumption that this has interest or implications for the general readership. - So I’m asking. That’s okay, isn’t it? - It’s usually a pretty courteous place and I’m sorry if I didn’t come across that way myself. - But 99pc of posts here are about something I’ve never heard of - Linux and program languages, tonnes of jargon and acronyms. I don’t jump in and ask what something is and follow up with ‘why is this (thing that has no impact on me, as I’ve just discovered by googling the thing) newsworthy?’ - I mean obviously it’s newsworthy to me. I thought given how small the place is, that maybe one or two people might respond - people who knew - and everyone else would shrug and scroll past. - You’re being very Reddit about it.

- Yeah I’ve read a lot of the commentary, was hoping to hear from someone on the inside/in the know - deleted by creator - Typically when there are layoffs, there are still people employed there who know what’s going on. - The number of people is less an issue than the reasoning, and what areas they’re cutting etc. - The smaller nature of Lemmy means people are less likely to write flippant dismissals as part of a rabid pack. Or at least it was. - deleted by creator
