News@lemmy.world•WeightWatchers files for bankruptcy as Americans embrace weight loss drugs
21·9 months agoWhat was your experience in getting those prescribed? Was it a matter of just being overweight? Did they go over lifestyle changes as well? There was a guy at work that was going to get them prescribed. He was very overweight, but he ate horrible food, a lot of candy, and drank three monsters a day. I’ll admit I got a little judgemental when he mentioned the medication. He was a good guy and I cared about him, but hard to help him see his lifestyle was probably the cause of a lot of his issues. I ultimately didn’t care how he got healthy, if its a pill so be it. But hopefully the lifestyle changes are tried as well. I also think we really need to focus on the mental health aspect of it. He was really hard on himself and I found myself regularly trying to steer him away from that.

4·9 months agoI followed disclosure for a while and it seemed to be mostly grifters. The big reveal never comes, meanwhile they are raking in the cash writing books and attending conferences. Some of them even have ridiculous shows on the “history” channel.
Gave it up about a month ago. The only reason I miss it is marketplace and getting local community news. Also local events are advertised there as well. I was trying to think of a way to get it back in a very anonymized way and block as much of the app as possible. I have adguard DNS, and a throw away email so I may do that.

I can think of two possibilities, either they think don’t get in the way when your enemy is making a mistake. If they can get to 2026, maybe it will be a democratic landslide. Or he knows where the bodies are buried for both sides, if there ever were two sides and they are terrified of getting exposed.
Those scare me quite a bit. Seems like you would more control with a drill attachment, although not as much power/rpm obviously.
These companies are revealing their true colors now that they think it’s acceptable to do so.

16·1 year agoWe cancelled Amazon Prime, and I won’t buy on their platform anymore. I bought something off Ebay, and sure enough it came from Amazon anyway. I guess they either dropped shipped or they fulfill their orders. I’ve bought a few things straight from the company and the price was the same. Shipping took a little longer, but I’ll gladly wait if means not supporting these companies that grovel to dictators.

4·2 years agoThis is only one type of intelligence and LLMs are already better at humans at regurgitating facts. But I think people really underestimate how smart the average human is. We are incredible problem solvers, and AI can’t even match us in something as simple as driving a car.

1·3 years agoI watched a few Jordan Peterson videos out of curiosity, and I will also watch some Joe Rogan clips as well for the same reason. For a while, I was bombarded by alt right YouTube videos. It’s so crazy to think just a few clicks can lead you down that path. I was older when I watched so it, so I could obviously discern their real message, but if I was a younger man it would be harder. The algorithm almost seemed to slowly introduce more and more extreme views.

How was it? I am pretty introverted but realistically going without human contact for an extended period sounds difficult.
