  • lemmy.ml is over there.

I literally got information from Wikipedia. The wife believed that the end of the world was nigh. Now I will admit, even back then, you didn’t need to believe the end of the world was nigh to not trust the government. But let’s be frank, ruby ridge was not on the same level as the bonus army, or the battle of Blair mountain, or Kent state.

If you think I shoot out between a conspiratorial family who believed at the end of the world was nigh and group of incompetent cops is equivalent to the battle of Blair mountain, then frankly, I think it’s you that’s fallen for the propaganda.

  • Ballsy to be an atheist in a place like 18th century Scotland! I don’t think I can understate just how religious Scotland was back in the day, and how Presbyterian it was. Christmas didn’t become an official Holiday here until 1958, Boxing day wasn’t an Official Holiday until 1974. The reason why Hogmanay is such a big thing here (it’s basically our national Holiday) was because Pre-Reformation, people when mad on Christmas. When the Reformation happened, that stopped (because Christmas “wasn’t biblical”), so everyone moved their festivities to New Years Eve.

  • I use plain Arch, but if you are just gonna use it as a media center, use Debian or something like it. A media center doesn’t need to be up to date if you’re just using it for TV and retro gaming. However, how mediocre are we talking? Are you intending to run full steam games or are you planning on streaming them from another computer?

If the latter, I think Debian or even a healthy rPi running RetroPie might be up your alley because you can install Kodi and SteamLink on that.
