  • Iirc it’s even funnier: the relevant case law comes from Naruto v Slater. A case about a monkey taking a selfie and a photographer failing to acquire copyright of it (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monkey_selfie_copyright_dispute).

The copyright belonged to whoever shot the selfie, but because it was the monkey and animals aren’t juristic entities, they can not hold copyright. Therefore, as it stands and as new case law outlines, AIs are compared to monkeys, in that the copyright would fall onto them but it’s not a juristic entities either, and therefore copyright just vanishes and no one can claim it.

The wikipedia page suggests current cases on generative AI directly build on this.

  • What is your life’s purpose?

I used to ask friends about it because I was in a bad spot. I got “to have fun” “nothing” and “I’m depressed, so I’m looking for one”. There’s no right or wrong, but it can be incredibly helpful to motivate you day-to-day actions if you feel stuck not knowing what to do.

Mine is “to be helpful to other people”. I wanna leave the world knowing I armed the right people with tools to make major positive change. So a lot of my time I dedicate to technical tasks that my friends need help with, and it gives me meaning.

Some can be selfish, some less impactful and some nonsensical. But I think especially people who can’t get out of bed are the ones potentially having the biggest positive influence on the world, and so these people need a reason. And then if you do a small thing every day, you’ll feel like you’re on track, and that feeling is important.

Sry for the rambling but I have thought about this topic a lot ^^’

  • I think it might change your art, but let me explain why I don’t think it’s that bad: whenever you change your habits, you will notice a difference to your mood and day-to-day headspace.

Antidepressants also change your habits, and thus they change what you think about, when you can be creative, and how you create.

I used to be scared that I would “lose the spark” over time when my habits changed drastically or when I took breaks from my craft, and I still am, but I can tell you in 8 years I’ve always bounced back and I still do some cool things and other people like some of the things I do. It definitely changed, but I know I learn and grow and thus my experiences necessarily change anyway, and so change in inevitable. BUT: for now it hasn’t stopped me - sometimes I just need a little bit of a push.

Honestly just see what it’s like and don’t get scared when your habits and thoughts change. Try to adapt to it and switch up your workflow if it absolutely won’t work. And don’t forget: you can always add restraints to kick-start your process. Best of luck and may your future art be beautiful as well:)

  • Because he specifically argued in his divorce that he suffers cognitive impairment and therefore he projects less future earnings. So he himself basically argued he is not smart enough to earn even as much as the average guy.

So in his own words, he has a cognitive impairment that will not go away. Now either you trust his advice (which assumes it’s good advice, and kinda goes against him saying under oath he will have cognitive impairment) or you think he was saying the truth under oath and now his advice is not worth too much.

Basically you have to decide which version of his you wanna trust. And if I have to decide between “he is dumb” or “he lied under oath”, I know one thing for sure - and that is to be very skeptical of anything he says.

    • people don’t like him in a few movies, including the joker
    • he has at least 9 public sexual misconduct allegations against him, including costars alluding to some additional misconduct
    • his fans treat him like a cult leader and he leans into it, adding to the “creepy narcissist vibe” for many people
    • he is an intense method actor, going so far as to send used condoms and dead rats to production companies and costars during the filming phase

That’s the jist of it, but for me there’s some additional things, like seeing some of the tiktoks he did he is just missing the mark for me. To me he comes off as inauthentic in minor ways, leading him down the uncanny valley.

  • I don’t think I agree if I read this correctly. I’ll specific as to how I understand it.

If I have opinion a, and that’s the majority opinion, and any other opinion gets censored, I think I’m fine with that. Hard disagree. I wanna expose myself to nuance and other opinions. Of course there’s a time and place when people hate you for nuance and specific opinions but censorship implies a legal framework and enforcement. Sure, there’s a lot of majority opinions I hold but I don’t want other opinions to get censored or punished on most topics. I wanna hear and learn new things.

Example of something I want censorship on: if someone just repeats NS dog whistles in a clear attempt to instigate, I think it might be good to censored them / punish them in some way. Not in a murderer way, but in a “do you know what you’re saying and can you grasp what it means?” way.

Example of something I don’t want censorship on: opinions political or societal systems. In fact I love discussing different ones, what they bring to the table, how they worked in practice and how they are bad so we can tweak them. On fact I invite people to tell me how capitalism itself is awesome, so we can discuss what we feel needs to be part of a healthy society and maybe we come up with novel ideas.

I guess if you wanna say “there’s some censorship that’s good” I might actually agree but that’s way more of a narrow statement than what you’re saying here.
