Kino really has a sense of wonder and exploration that’s hard to find. Made in Abyss also that kind of vibe but for all the wrong reasons, it’s seriously fucked up.

My kindle with the entire Expanse series of novels is my go-to solution for doom scrolling. I keep it handy around the dining room table, and I want to set a good example for the kiddo. Works pretty well since I can stay in the family conversation, absorb words, and put it down in an instant.
If you like paper, tons of bookmarks are a good thing to.
Japanese has three alphabets (and the English alphabet… and those Arabic numbers we are all familiar with)
Given those and the English letters at your fingertips they have a lot of tools to give context. Grab a newspaper or Manga sometime, even if you don’t know the words you can tell each writing system apart pretty easily.
