  • Since it’s home made and I haven’t got an oven capable of reaching sufficiently high temperatures (and / or a stone) and since it’s for the whole family and consequently done in a pan it’s slightly more Chicago than I’d like, even if the aim was New York style.

Still tasty though, especially as I used actual ham.

  • It probably speaks to just how thoroughly sick people are, not just of being relentlessly advertised to at every turn, but also measured, weighed, classified, tracked, predicted and primed to consume. Ads (digital ones in particular) are both central to and emblematic of the late-stage capitalistic enshittification of everything, and it pisses people off.

What I’m saying is that people may get it’s a joke just fine, but just don’t get what the funny bit about it is supposed to be. Timing and presentation can only do so much to save a joke about something that’s fundamentally unamusing to most people.

Interesting, although that was one of the most aggravating introductions to a pop-scientific article I’ve ever read. I kept waiting for the author to proceed with: “But wait, there’s more! We’ve made a list of the five most curious things of the Cambrian, and you’ll never believe what…”

Actually, the whole article is like that.
